CLEAN WATER

“Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” -John 4:13-14

According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control, Haitians suffer from the worst water and sanitation infrastructure in the Western Hemisphere.  Although many wells have been drilled there with good intentions, they most often contain dangerous bacteria such as typhus and e-coli, and parasites—all of which can cause severe intestinal distress, sickness and death.  Over 700,000 people have been sickened by cholera alone in Haiti since 2010.

The World Health Organization estimates that 80% of illnesses and 50% of hospital beds occupied in developing countries are due to drinking, cooking and bathing in dirty water.  Doctors in Haiti have confirmed to Mission Possible that this statistic is also applicable in Haiti.  Together, we can change those stats!

Along with our partners at One Ball One Village out of Tampa, Florida, Mission Possible has embarked on an ambitious plan to install clean water systems in 66 hospitals across Haiti, many of which were damaged by Hurricane Mathew and subsequent earthquakes.  The provision and installation of 4-stage, high-capacity water filters allows removal of harmful bacteria and parasites down to 35 microns in size.

Mission Possible has installed filtration systems in such large regional hospitals as Hoptial L’O Fatma in Port au Prince and Les Cayes, and Hopital General in Petit Goave and Les Cayes.  Hopital General in Petit Goave serves 1,700-2,000 patients a month and has 200 beds.  The surrounding communities also benefit from faucets that we install outside of the hospitals.

Our most prolific system in Petite Goave pumps out over 732,000 gallons a month—enough to fill 146,000 5-gallon buckets!  Mission Possible also provides these systems for villages, schools and orphanages.  We use these frequent daily trips by Haitians to our water sites as an opportunity to share the Good News of the Gospel and the love of Jesus Christ.  We pray that one day, all Haitians will have access to clean and Living water!  Your prayers and support will help!
