DISASTER RELIEF

DISASTER RELIEF

Yet does not one in a heap of ruins reach out his hand; or in his disaster cry out for help?”
-Job 30:24

Hurricane Mathew, Southwestern Haiti

Mission Possible Relief was on the ground again in Haiti in the aftermath of Category 5 Hurricane Mathew, which slammed into southwestern Haiti with winds in excess of 146 miles per hour.  Our team responded with the distribution of food, water and critical supplies such as tarps and roofing materials for those most deeply impacted.

Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico

Hurricane Maria hammered Puerto Rico in 2017 and spread her 145 mph Cat 4 winds across the island.  Wind gusts of up to 220 mph were recorded in the central mountains.  An already aging infrastructure and wooden home construction was no match for the storm’s power.  Much of the island was without power and water for over 7 months.  Mission Possible again partnered with One Ball One Village and responded by installing clean water systems and sharing the Good News of the Gospel and the love of Jesus Christ across Puerto Rico.

August 2021 Quake, Les Cayes Region, Haiti

A powerful 7.2 magnitude quake struck southwest Haiti around Les Cayes.  Tens of thousands of families were left homeless.  40% of Haitians live on less than $1/day, and another 40% live on less than $2/day.  Already short on food rations, many were in danger of starvation.  Many sources of water were also knocked out by the quake.  Mission Possible immediately mounted relief efforts in conjunction with our partners at One Ball One Village.  MPR shipped out tents, tarps, and helped with logistics to provide 50,000 thousand meals, bottled water and Bibles to needy families.
